🎉A Big Win for Direct Primary Care
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news for our members — and for Direct Primary Care (DPC) practices across the country! Starting January 1, 2026, patients will be able to use their Health Savings Account (HSA) funds to pay for their DPC memberships, including their membership at Elevate Wellness - Direct Primary Care.
This long-awaited change means that your monthly membership can soon be paid tax-free, just like other qualified medical expenses.
💳What’s Changing
Until now, the IRS did not consider DPC memberships a “qualified medical expense,” even though DPC provides real, ongoing medical care.
Beginning in 2026, the new federal legislation reclassifies DPC memberships as eligible expenses, and patients with HSAs will remain fully eligible to contribute to their accounts while enrolled in DPC.
💰How This Benefits You
Here’s what the 2026 update means for Elevate Wellness members:
✅ You can use your HSA funds to pay for your monthly membership tax-free.
💵 The IRS allows up to $150 per month for individuals or $300 per month for families (adjusted for inflation) as qualified expenses.
🧾 You can still use your HSA for other healthcare costs such as labs, imaging, and prescriptions.
This change helps make affordable, patient-centered care even more accessible — and we couldn’t be happier to see it happen.
⚖️ What to Know Until Then
The new rule takes effect on January 1, 2026, so until then, DPC memberships are not yet eligible for HSA payments. You can continue to pay for your membership out of pocket while using your HSA for other qualified medical expenses.
If you have an HSA, we recommend checking with your account administrator or tax professional for personalized guidance — especially if your employer offers a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) that might already allow DPC coverage.
🌱 Why This Matters
At Elevate Wellness, we believe that healthcare should be simple, transparent, and centered around you. This new rule is a major step toward making Direct Primary Care more affordable and flexible for individuals and families who value preventive, relationship-based care.
We’re so grateful to our members for being part of this movement — and we’re excited for what 2026 will bring!
